Born on 7th May 1969 in No. 4 Nkwakwaakrom, a small town near Akwatia in the Eastern Region of Ghana, H.E. Hon. Baba Jamal attended the Roman Catholic (R/C) Elementary School in Akwatia. He completed his secondary education at Labone Secondary School in Accra and later pursued his Advanced Level (A-Level) education at Boa Amponsem Secondary School. H.E. Hon. Baba Jamal proceeded to the University of Ghana, where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Arabic. He further earned a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Political Science, specializing in International Politics, from the same university. He subsequently obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, and later completed his professional legal training at the Ghana School of Law. His educational journey reflects a truly home-grown intellectual who embodies the resilience, determination and excellence of Ghana's educational system. Although he received all his formal education in Ghana, H.E. Hon. Baba Jamal has extensive international exposure, having participated in numerous international conferences, seminars and symposia across the world. Notably, he attended The Hague Appeal for Peace Conference in 1999, among several other international engagements. H.E. Hon. Baba Jamal is also a seasoned entrepreneur who has established successful businesses across various sectors of the economy. He is the founder of Meeme Business Ventures, a microfinance institution that has supported many low-income entrepreneurs; Dekyembour FM, a leading private radio station in the Eastern Region; Baba Jamal & Associates, a law firm in Ghana; and the Mahama Centre for Humanitarian Services, a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable individuals and communities. He possesses over three decades of distinguished public service experience. His leadership journey began during his secondary school days as a student leader. He later served as Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Deputy Minister in five different ministries, Member of Parliament for Akwatia Constituency, Ghana's High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and currently serves as the Member of Parliament for the East Ayawaso Constituency. H.E. Hon. Baba Jamal is a devoted Muslim, a family man, and a proud father. He is passionate about humanitarian service, youth empowerment, football, and community development. His leadership philosophy is anchored on service, integrity, innovation and creating opportunities that improve the lives of others.
