One Million Coders Digital Skills Training Centre – Nima-Mamobi Library
As part of his commitment to promoting digital education and supporting the Government of Ghana's One Million Coders Programme, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Hon. Baba Jamal M.A., Esq., successfully established a dedicated Digital Skills Training Centre at the Nima-Mamobi Library.
The project was initiated to prepare the constituency to benefit from the Government's flagship digital skills programme, which seeks to equip one million Ghanaians with practical coding and digital technology skills for the modern job market.
The MP initially renovated the ICT Laboratory at St. Kizito Junior High School in Nima by painting the facility, installing two air conditioners, repairing doors and cupboards, providing curtains, and purchasing 50 chairs to accommodate beneficiaries of the programme. However, before the centre could be commissioned, the school authorities informed the MP that the facility could not be used by members of the public because it was reserved exclusively for the school's students.
To ensure that the constituency did not lose the opportunity to participate in the programme, Hon. Baba Jamal immediately relocated the project to the Nima-Mamobi Library, where an office within the library was redesigned and converted into a fully functional digital training centre.
The renovation works included the installation of a new ceiling, painting of the facility, installation of air conditioners, provision of wall-mounted computer workstations, chairs, and the partitioning of the available space to accommodate 33 laptop workstations together with an administrative office.
On 29th July 2026, Hon. Baba Jamal officially commissioned the Digital Skills Training Centre together with Madam Kathy Knowles, the Canadian philanthropist whose generosity led to the establishment of the Nima-Mamobi Library. The commissioning ceremony was also attended by the Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso East, Mr. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, the Constituency Coordinator of the One Million Coders Programme, Mr. Fawaz Kassim Basha, constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), community leaders and residents.
The training centre now serves as the official venue for the implementation of the One Million Coders Programme within Ayawaso East, providing beneficiaries with access to modern digital skills training in line with the vision of H.E. John Dramani Mahama to empower Ghanaian youth for employment, innovation and entrepreneurship in the digital economy.
Through this intervention, Hon. Baba Jamal has demonstrated his commitment to expanding educational opportunities, promoting digital inclusion and ensuring that young people in Ayawaso East are equipped with the skills required to thrive in today's technology-driven world.

Proposed Community Day STEM Senior High School for Ayawaso East
As part of efforts to improve access to secondary education in Ayawaso East, the Member of Parliament, Hon. Baba Jamal M.A., Esq., has initiated the process for the establishment of a Community Day STEM Senior High School within the constituency.
On 16th June 2026, the Member of Parliament, together with officials of the Ayawaso East Municipal Education Directorate, commissioned a licensed surveyor to prepare a site plan for land at the Kanda Cluster of Schools, covering approximately 4.42 acres (1.79 hectares), for the proposed school.
Following the completion of the survey, Hon. Baba Jamal formally wrote to the Minister for Education on 26th June 2026, dedicating the identified land and requesting Government approval for the construction of a Community Day STEM Senior High School to serve Ayawaso East.
The proposal received national attention on 20th July 2026, when the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, announced in Parliament that Government intends to construct new Community Day Senior High Schools in Nima and Kasoa.
Responding to concerns about land availability for the project, the Minister confirmed on the Floor of Parliament that:
"Hon. Baba Jamal has written to me, dedicating land for the construction of a new Community Day SHS in Nima."
The proposed project is expected to significantly improve access to quality secondary and STEM education for students in Ayawaso East while reducing pressure on existing senior high schools within the Greater Accra Region.
