Asphaltic Overlay Works Commence Across 19 Roads in East Ayawaso

East Ayawaso, Thursday, 6th August 2026 – Asphaltic overlay and road rehabilitation works have officially commenced across selected roads within the Ayawaso East Municipality, marking a significant step towards improving road infrastructure and mobility within the constituency. The commencement of the project was witnessed by the Member of Parliament for East Ayawaso, Hon. Baba Jamal M.A., Esq., the Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso East, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, Assembly Members and the contractor responsible for the works. The project covers 19 roads with a combined length of approximately 11,270 metres. Depending on the condition of each road, the scope of work includes asphaltic overlay, resurfacing, sectional repairs and pothole patching. The roads covered under the project are: 1. Mallam Mahabe Street 2. Alhaji Norga Street 3. Torgbor Link 4. Mallam Futa Road / Mallam Suraqa 5. Rev. Dogbe Street 6. Mallam Kamarudeen / Nima Hospital Road 7. Alhaji Mayaki Street 8. Yaya Seidu Street 9. Islamic Research Street 10. Chief Tanko Street / Imam Amadu 11. Amasscy Commey Street / Mallam Hamza 12. Chief Ali Kado & Links 13. Hill Street 14. Oku Street 15. Al-Waleed Bin Talal Highway 16. Sal Valley 17. Sal Valley Close 18. Mole Street 19. Mallam Mutala Speaking at the commencement of the works, Hon. Baba Jamal expressed, on behalf of the chiefs and people of East Ayawaso, his appreciation to the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, for their support and commitment towards improving road infrastructure. The MP also expressed appreciation to the Department of Urban Roads for its role in facilitating the project. Hon. Baba Jamal described the commencement of the road works as evidence of the Government's commitment to delivering development to communities across the country and particularly within East Ayawaso. "The NDC Government is resetting Ghana, and more importantly, resetting East Ayawaso," he stated. He further assured the President and the Government that the people of East Ayawaso would continue to appreciate development interventions that directly improve their lives. The contractor, in response, assured the MP, the Municipal Assembly and residents that the project would be executed to a high standard. The contractor appealed to residents and other stakeholders to cooperate with the construction team to facilitate the smooth and timely completion of the works.
